A huge grand piano showing off its dominance greeted me suddenly at the studio entrance.   Going in excitement exposed a digital mixer with which the new released "Doh Yoh" was produced completely.  And, cameras, Macs, mass of various category books.  Mr. Wong's studio is occupied only by items of his taste.   It seemed nothing useless but anything necessary, and that is the very life style of the well-honed artist......

YAYU What do you think when you play piano?
Wong Nothing, during performance. Just a white paper.    Thanks to 10 year practice of meditation, I assimilate the music in deep meditation during performance.  I play my music very emotionally, but at the same time, I feel myself, unruffled and objective, listening to it.
Dai Although I want to assimilate music too, but it is difficult.
Wong Piano should be played without consciousness.   It is important, whether you can play or cannot, that you, above all, sit up in front of a piano, relax yourself, concentrate and listen to your own tones carefully.
Be seated beside a piano for 6 hours a day.  Practice playing for the first 2 hours, and record your play for the next 2 hours and playback the recording for the last 2 hours.   Listen carefully, and you notice that illness, wounds and movement of your mind are all reflected in the piano tones.   Eliminate unnecessary elements one by one.   The processes make a feedback circuit, and the circuit becomes broader by repeating the work for 4 days.
yayu What started you practicing meditation?
Wong 10 years ago, when I came up against a brick wall due to frustration, one of my friends introduced me meditation.  After that my life style improved and I found a way out.
yayu What was a cue to start playing piano?
Wong A piano might choose me....(laugh with shy)    From childhood in addition to piano, I practiced  trumpet, electric guitar and drums. But I believe piano is destiny.

After 17 years old I played piano daily.  Four fragments composed at that time and included in "SATOWA" are the condenses of  my senses then.

yayu What are your interests in these days?
Wong Cameras, computers and environment issues in the broad sense.  Population balance, economy, agriculture, social consciousness the handicapped, natural cultivation, etc......  Thinking these issues extensively and in series  means thinking of the future of the world.    These are the concept of my new album " Doh Yoh".  My thoughts on these issue are printed on the jacket of this compact disk.
yayu When do you compose?
Wong At the moment, one in meditation, one in dreaming, and all others at facing a piano.
Dai What do you think about that your work is called healing music?
Wong I play piano for exploring myself, and I am healed by it.  It is never for healing others.  But I am pleased that listeners are healed by my music.

Mr. Wong says, "Performing music is abandoning self-consciousness".  After his debut at 19 years old, he explored "never acquired goal", but had got desperated.  His desired music style went off further in spite that he pursued harder......
In such days, his wife Mieko accepted him as he was, saying "Yes it is you", and then he underwent meditation.  Time flied and now, he takes us to a wonderful world of super-consciousness with his Inspiration Piano.  Tunes of Mr. Wong's piano bring tears neither of a sorrow or a joy......   YAYU

Mieko, Mr. Wong's wife, a producer, a designer and, the president of SATOWA Music Inc.
They established the label in 1991 for delivering his own music production processes directly to the listeners.
